Live training courses

What is a live training course?

A live training course is a real time interactive training session delivered over the internet that is topic specific, led by an instructor and scheduled for a specific date and time. Each course is viewed on your own computer and is delivered over the internet, so you will need a computer, access to a high speed internet connection and a telephone. Each course is taught by a certified professional in a virtual meeting room and you will be given a toll-free number to access the meeting room. Everything happens live, so you can ask questions and interact with other participants. Depending on the number of students, questions may be asked directly over the telephone or through chat. In a live training course you will receive the benefits of a traditional classroom environment in the enjoyment of your home or office. Live training courses include live product demonstration, electronic documentation, simulation exercises and online review questions. QuickBooks® courses are taught by a QuickBooks® ProAdvisor® and Simply Accounting® by Sage courses are taught by a Simply Accounting® Certified Consultant.

How do I access a live training course?

After you select and pay for the course(s) you want to attend, you will receive an email from OnPoint Software Training Solutions Inc containing information on how to register for each course you purchased. You must register for each course separately; however, after you register and set up your account, you will only have to enter your email address and password to register for the remainder of the courses. After you have been verified by OnPoint Software Training Solutions Inc as having purchased the courses that you have registered for, you will receive a separate email for each course containing a link to access each course for the scheduled date and time.

Are there any rules while attending a live training course?

Yes, there are some rules while attending a live training course:

  1. Sign-on 15 minutes prior to the session so we can solve any technical issues that you may have.
  2. Do not put your telephone on hold after you have dialled into the classroom. On-hold music is quite disruptive to the course.
  3. If the phone lines are open and you must talk to people in your home or office, please put your phone on mute. To mute your line, press *6. When you are ready to join back in, press *6 to unmute your line.

Do I have to pay for long distance charges to dial into the course?

No, you do not have to pay for long distance charges to dial into the course. When you click on the link in the e-mail you received from OnPoint Software Training Solutions Inc that takes you into the online classroom, you will see dial-in instructions with a toll-free number that can be accessed within North America to call into the course. If you are having difficulty, please use the chat function to send the instructor a note. There will be instructions on how to use chat in the classroom.

How early should I arrive for a live training course?

You should arrive 10 – 15 minutes early in case we need to solve any technical issues. If you are having technical difficulties that we cannot resolve quickly, you will be asked to join another course in the future. We must start courses on time in order to respect other students’ time.

How long is each live training course?

Each training course varies in length and will range from 75 – 90 minutes depending on the course content. You will find this information listed on the detailed course page for each individual course.

The live course that I want to attend starts in a few hours, is it too late for me to join?

Yes, we need 1 business day to register your course information into our system.

I need to cancel my live training course, what is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations for live training courses received within 3 business days before the course date are refundable less a 5% administration fee. If you need to cancel a course, please click on the Cancellation/Reschedule Policy link found at the bottom of every page of our web site and fill out the cancellation information or send an e-mail directly to . If you register for a course and do not attend and do not cancel or reschedule, you are still responsible for payment.

What if I was not able to attend my scheduled live training course?

If you register and do not attend, you are still responsible for payment. Please contact OnPoint Software Training Solutions Inc at .

How do I reschedule my live training course?

Requests to reschedule a live training course must be received within 2 business days before the course date to allow OnPoint Software Training Solutions the opportunity to reschedule your course. If you need to reschedule a course, please click on the Cancellation/Reschedule Policy link found at the bottom of every page of our website and fill out the reschedule information or send an e-mail directly to . If you register for a course and do not attend and do not cancel or reschedule, you are still responsible for payment.

What system requirements do I need to access a live training course?

The live training course is taught in Adobe® ConnectTM Professional. As an Adobe Connect Professional participant, you will need the following system requirements:

I was able to view the demo on your website. Does that mean I should have the proper system requirements to access a live training course?

Yes. You need the Flash® player installed on your machine to view our courses. If you were able to view the demo, you should have the necessary requirements to attend a live training course. If the teacher has the telephone lines open, how do I mute my line so no one hears me?

You can mute your line by pressing *6. When you are ready to join back into the course, you can unmute your line by pressing *6.

Will I be able to talk to the teacher during the live training course?

Yes. When you log into the live training course by clicking on the url provided in your course information e-mail sent from OnPoint Software Training Solutions Inc, you will see instructions on how to dial into the classroom. When you first dial in, you will be able to speak to the instructor and other students in the classroom. Remember that when you join in, everyone in the classroom will be able to hear you. Depending on the number of participants, the instructor may keep the lines open during the course for discussions; however, if the number of participants is too large, if there is an echo through the telephone lines, or there are any other issues, the lines will be muted by the instructor. You will be able to use the chat function to share ideas throughout the course.

When will I receive the course documentation?

The instructor will give you an opportunity to download the course documentation during the course. The course documentation will contain step-by-step instructions on how to perform most of the procedures taught in the course to ensure that you can implement what you learned in the course into your day-to-day business operations.

What is a simulation and how is it used in the course?

We know that most students learn by “doing”; therefore, we have developed training simulations which are computer-based training modules that will allow you to try some of the procedures taught in the course. The instructor will introduce these at appropriate times throughout the course. The demo available on our home page includes a simulation that you can try.

Do you send out reminder notices for the courses?

Yes. You will receive a reminder e-mail the day before your course is scheduled.

When I purchase a course, how many people can attend?

When you purchase a course, you are purchasing it for one person. If you want multiple users to view the live training session, please contact OnPoint Software Training Solutions to discuss a site license arrangement.

Do I still need an accountant, bookkeeper or other professional to help me with my own accounting records after taking a live training course?

Yes. Since OnPoint Software Training Solutions Inc courses do not deal directly with specific and individual requirements, it is recommended that students obtain the necessary advice from an accountant, employer, QuickBooks® ProAdvisor® or Simply Accounting® Certified Consultant (depending on the software you are using) or other such appropriate expert with regards to their specific requirements or guidelines.

Pre-recorded Training Courses

What is a pre-recorded training course?

A pre-recorded training course is a taped session of a live training course but without a live instructor or other attendees. These courses can be viewed anytime/anywhere in the comfort of your home or office and they are delivered over the internet so you will require a computer, access to a high-speed internet connection and you’ll need your computer speakers or a headset to hear the audio. Pre-recorded training courses are ideal to learn new material at a pace that you determine which can be revisited for 90 days to reinforce the material. These sessions contain software demonstrations, simulations and review quizzes. While viewing the pre-recorded training session you can select which sections of the course to view and you can pause and resume the course at anytime.

How do I access a pre-recorded training course?

After you select and pay for the pre-recorded training course(s) you want to view, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from OnPoint Training Solutions Inc containing information on how to register for each pre-recorded course you purchased. After you have registered, you will receive a link that will allow you to access the pre-recorded training course.

Is the content of the pre-recorded training course similar to that of the live training course?

How long do I have to view each pre-recorded training course?

You are able to view each pre-recorded training course for 90 days.

When can I access the pre-recorded training course?

You can access the pre-recorded training course as soon as you receive an e-mail containing the url to access the course from OnPoint Software Training Solutions Inc. The pre-recorded training session may be viewed anytime/anywhere. You will need a computer, access to a high-speed internet connection and a telephone.

How do I reschedule my pre-recorded training course?

Since your pre-recorded training course is available for 90 days, 24 hours a day (except during periodic server maintenance), there is no need to reschedule a pre-recorded training course.

What if I was not able to view my pre-recorded training course within the 90 days?

If you register and do not view the pre-recorded training session within the 90 days it is available to you, you are still responsible for payment.

What system requirements do I need to access a pre-recorded training course?
